Thumbs up Sled recall done

Well my dealer completed the recall for installing new rods in my Viper. Took about 3 days. Motor had to be removed, disassembled, new rods, main bearings, and rings installed, then put back together.

Here's a few pics from Saturday 1/28, getting put back together.

Yamaha only pays 14 hours for this job, it takes double that realistically.

Going to pick up my sled from the dealer this afternoon.

Attached are a few pics, one showing the suspect rods.

Brother AllSeason is still waiting for a new motor to be shipped to our dealer for his sled.

We plan on heading UP this weekend with Skeet, bro can ride my Vector since his sled still has the flu.

After a bit of investigation today while picking up the sled, it was determined that the rods in my sled were defective. Notice the file marks on the beam of the rod. The rods in 15 and earlier engines are much harder, the file just polishes the surface.

So mine would have eventually failed like AllSeasons did. See 2nd pic.
