Default Brushing & Signing 2018

This thread is your one stop shop for our bushing & signing for this year, 2018.

For a number of years we stated that unless something strange happens, our official dates will ALWAYS be the 3rd, and 4th Saturday of October. That means that this year our brushing Saturdays are supposed to be October 20st and 27th.

----------------------- General Info -----------------------

If you have never been to a brushing weekend, head on up for a good time, with some hard work, and interesting stories! An appreciation gathering will be Saturday evening at a local tavern, with dinner drinks and tall tales.

We have most of the tools we will need, but if you have a favorite chainsaw or screw gun bring it for a bit of a workout.

On Saturday, optional meeting at the truck stop, 7am for breakfast.
Meet 8am at the Super 8 on US-2 in St. Ignace to load up and head out on assignments.

Rooms discounts will be available at the Super 8 & Budget Host for those helping out.

We load up, and hit it hard and sign of our trail system in one day. Some brushing needs are met too as of course, there are also always trees to be killed! We work hard, then we will play hard and have dinner afterwords at a local tavern.

Thanks to all those who do so much for our club & the program in general.
Lets get a roll call going and see who we will partying or um, working with.
See ya soon.

Not sure about brushing now. We are behind and have started working Saturdays by volunteer. I hate to pass up good overtime.

Sounds like you have plenty for the 20th anyway.

Will let you know.

Those turbos for the 850 are expensive!!!!

almost 70 degrees at bedtime last night, awake to 40. Fall is in the air, trees are turning.
Hoping weather will improve for the end of the month.
The only thing certain is it will rain on Kenny while signing!

Looks like a good turnout coming up for this weekend's festivities. Would love to come up and help (not to mention it gets me out of going to a soccer tournament ). Looks like I would be the only one from Ohio coming up, so the gas alone would pretty salty splitting it 1 way. Especially since I don't have a Prius

No problem there bud, we have a good crew this weekend.
The main thing is that we get our 2 signing crews each weekend. Once the signs are up, brushing can happen at any time with 1 or 2 people if needed.

That black cloud thought about following Kenny, but ended up going elsewhere.

Chilly, but decent weather, and overall a good and very productive day. We started the day with a hearty breakfast at the Truckstop. The 2 signing crews hit 2/3 of the system and things are looking good out there. The brushing crew covered 1/2, with the rest already in pretty good shape. After a nice day on the trails we had a nice long dinner at Fred's with friends and war stories. The crews really got alot done out there.

A huge thank you to all those who came up and helped out. Todd, sorry your truck got muddy!

Next weekend will be the Cedarville trail, and mostly cleanup of problem areas. I have arrangements for the washouts on the RR grade to be repaired, hopefully on Wednesday. There is alot of areas out there that the trail is choppy/bumpy, but will be grading one more time before the season. After that, we should be ready to rock and roll for the season.

New Roll call for next Saturday the 27th

Kevin (& Kathy will be making sure the hot tub is working properly)
Ken Ryskamp
Mike (local)
? Pat
? Kenny - is feeling good after the UM win, and will try to be here again since they have a bye.

3 confirmed so far.

It was another good weekend on the trails. No rain but did get some snow for awhile. It was a bit chilly all because of the wind but we did get alot done. As always thanks for the food and drinks all day! BTW what a great day in Big 10 football. Only way that could have been better is if Floyd and Wink were at Freds with Julie and I watching that beating

Not sure about this coming weekend. I will know more mid week.

No worries, got the truck de-mudded Sunday afternoon!

Really wet in some spots for sure!

We had a very productive day getting trails in shape for this winter...

Need to get rid of those Beavers, though!

Great job as always, and a huge thank you to those that came up to help out. Signing is all done and trails are in good shape.

I say it often, but i really man it that we could not get these trails in shape without all f the helpo from the dedicated set of volunteers. The use of your time and vehicles and saws are most appreciated.

I will upload a couple pics of my Saturday project when I get a chance... it used to be Neil Vs the Trees. The newest saga is Neil Vs the Damning beavers. I don't like to lose.
