Default Brushing & Signing 2019

Greetings to all of our friends out there. So Labor day is over, which is the unofficial end of the summer.... ya welcome to Northern Michigan - I had to turn my furnace on last weekend!

Fall is kicking into full swing, and that means we should be thinking about the fall brushing & singin mission.

This thread is your one stop shop for our bushing & signing for this year, 2018.

For a number of years we stated that unless something strange happens, our official dates will ALWAYS be the 3rd, and 4th Saturday of October. That means that this year our brushing Saturdays are supposed to be October 19th and 26th.

If there is large contingent of people that would like something different then we can look at that date as well. Post up here if you have different ideas.

----------------------- General Info -----------------------

If you have never been to a brushing weekend, head on up for a good time, with some hard work, and interesting stories! An appreciation gathering will be Saturday evening at a local tavern, with dinner drinks and tall tales provided.

We have most of the tools we will need, but if you have a favorite chainsaw or screw gun bring it for a bit of a workout.

On Saturday, optional meeting at the truck stop, 7am for a free breakfast.
Meet 8am at the Super 8 on US-2 in St. Ignace to load up and head out on trail assignments.

Rooms discounts will be available at the Super 8 & Budget Host for those helping out. If you have never been with us before, PM me and I will help out with that info.

We load up, and hit it hard and sign Ĺ of our trail system in one day. Some brushing needs are met too as of course, there are also always trees to be killed! We work hard, then we will play hard and have dinner provided afterwards at a local tavern.

Thanks to all those who do so much for our club & the program in general.
Lets get a roll call going and see who we will partying or um, working with.
See ya soon.

For the 19th looks like we have:

Wink
Kenny & Scotty
Kevin
Dave, Nick, + friend

I should be going, and I think Jimmy has to work.

On the 26th:
Kurt is likely coming up.
Possibly Todd?

Jimmy has been out on the trails, and thinks the signs are in pretty decent shape, and we can get quite a bit done this Sat. If that is the case, then maybe we just need to run 1 cleanup crew on the 26th. It is nice to think we can get it all done in one day, but that is alot of driving for one day.

As always, we will be meeting at the Truck Stop at 7am. Then the Super 8 at 8am to grab trails and head out on the trail.
If you have a favorite drill, or chainsaw it is always welcome to come and work.
See everyone this weekend.

Sorry I missed it this year guys - I had hoped to come but a change in the soccer schedule kept me home - good news is my 10 year old scored the game winner with a few minutes to go!

I'm ready for soccer to be done and snow to plentiful!

The guys got alot done last Saturday. Most of the 'regulars' were up all at once and signed about 75 miles of trail. Pretty wet out there as it is everywhere.

We closed up Freds too, for those that could stay awake!

I can't thank you guys enough for spending your time to come up and help out on these trails. The friendship, and dedication is just awesome.

I hope we still have a month of usable weather, but are starting to pick away at the winter prep activities. Mother Nature shure is giving us signs it is going to be a long wet/snowy winter. Lets hope the trails reflect all of the hard work that guys are putting in.

If anyone is thinking about coming to help this Saturday, please post up here, or message me directly. I need to plan out the attack to get the last of the trails done.

Thanks again and will see you soon!

Update for this Saturday: Since we will likely have a short day, and we have a group traveling to get here, we will be delaying normal start times by 1 hr.
8 at truck stop, and 9 at super 8 to head out.

Signing was finished up on Saturday morning. I think everything is done, except mechanical brushing and a final grading pass next month - which should set us up for winter.

Once again a special thank you to all of those that helped out (year in and year out) I can not possible keep these trails open without all of the selfless help that I get from each of you. The friendships that have been formed working on this are truly special.

I would like to do something special in a social capacity for all of you volunteers (and members of this website in general) So be on the lookout for an announcement later this year for an event - likely on a February Saturday.

Thanks again -

Your Snow VP
